About DNB

The Government of India established the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in 1975 with the objective of improving the quality of the Medical Education by establishing high and uniform standards of postgraduate examinations in modern medicine on an all India basis and utilizing existing infrastructure for capacity building.

NBE at present conducts postgraduate and postdoctoral examinations in approved specialties leading to the award of Diplomate of National Board. The Medical Council of India has laid down standards for postgraduate examinations conducted by various medical colleges and affiliated to concerned universities and other institutions, yet the levels of proficiency and standards of evaluation vary considerably in these institutions.

DNB (Post MBBS)

Diplomate National Board qualifications are well recognized and accepted as high standard specialist qualifications for practice of concerned medical discipline of super or sub specialties area. Among the various courses conducted by the NBE, two of such courses are the DNB (Broad Specialty) Courses including Direct six years course which are available to be pursued by candidates at the Post-MBBS level.

DNB Admission Eligibility Criteria (Post MBBS)

  • MBBS Degree certificate.
  • Permanent Registration certificate issued by MCI/State Medical Council for registration of MBBS qualification.
  • SC/ST/PWD/OBC/EWS certificate issued by competent authority, if applicable. Caste certificate must be issued by competent authority. The sub-caste should tally with the central Govt. list.
  • Special category certificate issued by the competent authority, if applicable.
  • Valid Identity proof i.e. PAN card, Indian Passport, Voter ID card, Driving License or Aadhaar Card (with photograph).
  • Candidate must have completed one year of internship on or before 31st March.
  •  Candidate must have qualified NEET PG .
  • Candidates who are completing their internship after 31st March 2020 are ineligible to participate in the counselling for DNB (Post MBBS) 2020.
  • Candidates already pursuing a DNB course or any other Postgraduate medical course are not eligible for admission to DNB (Post MBBS) 2020 Admission Session till such time as they complete the entire duration prescribed for the said course.
  • It may also be noted that once a candidate joins a seat allotted to him/her through any rounds of counselling in the NEET 50% AIQ /Deemed/Central universities/AFMS (MD/MS/Diploma) seats ,by Medical Counselling Committee(MCC), Government of India or State Counselling through respective State Government, he/she shall not be eligible to participate in any rounds of counselling for the DNB (Post MBBS) .

DNB  (POST MBBS) SEATS AVAILABILITY

DNB (Post Diploma)

Diplomate National Board qualifications are well recognized and accepted as high standard, specialist qualifications for practice of concerned medical discipline of super or sub specialties area .Among the various courses conducted by the NBE, one of such of such courses is the DNB(Post Diploma) Courses which are available to be pursued by candidates at the Post-Diploma level.

  • MBBS Degree certificate.
  • Post Graduate Diploma Medical Qualification Pass certificate/Provisional Pass Certificate*.
  • Permanent Registration certificate issued by MCI/State Medical Council for registration of MBBS qualification.
  • Proof of having passed the Post graduate diploma final examination on or before 30th November 2019.
  • Proof of Post Graduate Diploma Medical Qualification recognized as per IMC Act/Central Government.
  • SC/ST/PWD/OBC/EWS certificate issued by competent authority, if applicable. Caste certificate must be issued by competent authority. The sub-caste should tally with the central Govt. list.
  • Special category certificate issued by the competent authority, if applicable.
  • Valid Identity proof i.e. PAN card, Indian Passport, Voter ID card, Driving License or Aadhaar Card (with photograph).
  • Candidates who have passed the final examination leading to the award of Post Graduate Diploma from Indian Universities which are duly recognized as per provisions of Indian Medical Council Act 1956, Govt of India. i.e. have passed final examinations for Post graduate diploma on or before 30th November 2019.

Candidate must Appeared in DNB PDCET.

  • Candidates who are qualifying Post Graduate Diploma Qualification after 30th November are ineligible to participate in the counselling for admission to DNB PDCET
  • Candidates already pursuing a DNB course or any other Postgraduate medical course are not eligible for admission to DNB (Post Diploma) 2020 Admission Session till such time as they complete the entire duration prescribed for the said course.

What is the difference between DNB & MD/MS?

There is no difference between DNB & MD /MS, If they apply for any Govt ( State/Central) job in India, both candidates are follow the same rules. Those who crack the interview can get the job. MD/ MS students gets the better stipends.

In India as per public perception MD/MS is better than DNB while in Abroad DNB is affiliated to National Board Of Examination that’s why they can prefer DNB.

The most important & major difference about DNB Vs MD/MS in the teaching faculty position-

  • If MD/MS & DNB both students are studying in the same college then DNB is equivalent to MD/ MS
  • If DNB students are studying in the Govt/Pvt corporate hospital more than 500 + Beded then degree is equivalent to MD/MS
  • If DNB students are studying in the Govt / Pvt corporate hospital more than 100 + Beded then student must be doing 1 Year JR-Ship in the Govt / Pvt hospital.
  • If DNB students are studying in the Govt / Pvt corporate hospital more than 50 + Beded then student must be doing 2 Year JR-Ship in the Govt / Pvt hospital.
